The Knitten Kitten Christmas Ornament Collection

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It seems like I lose my blogging momentum near the end of the week, which is something I have to work on. Today I'm sharing The Knitten Kitten Christmas Ornament Collection, from The Bradford Exchange. I feel deeply disappointed with myself, but can't help but think that these kittens are really cute. I feel so weak to succumb to Christmas ornaments. My favorite is the "Knit One, Hug Two", with two little kittens snuggled up together under a scarf. They are also wearing pointy hats. One cats has a jingle bell. I will control my urge to have it.

O! Say Can You See

O! "Wearing a fancy red, white and blue gown and matching chapeau, this beautiful Victorian lady is dressed in her patriotic best and embodies the very spirit of all- American pride."

The whole Thomas Kinkade enterprise makes me just shake my head with disbelief. Why do people go crazy for stuff done by the "Painter of Light?" (I want a catchy title like that. What should it be?) I can't see why people would want "artwork" by the man whose works include light up forest scenes and snow globe trains.

So, what do you think of this patriotic lady? I think she would look a little out of place, even in the Victorian Era. But you can't blame her. Thomas Kinkade is the one who dressed her.

Jasmine Becket- Griffith's Holiday Spice Ornament Collection

Ooh! "Sassy Christmas fairies"! I think it is safe to say that these are really, really weird. The fairies are perched in teacups, and are holiday ornaments. Whose genius idea was that? The Bradford Exchange's, of course. I have to wonder what goes on inside their offices. Since I have no idea, I have to make do with made up conversations of how I think they decide on what their new products will be. For example: "New junk to sell? Um.... we'll do something holiday themed because Christmas is only 6 months away.....oh, like ornaments.... I know! There'll be neon clothed creatures with wings that we'll brand "Christmas fairies".... and they'll be in teacups! Perfect!" My other theory is that they just make this Pin the Tail on The Donkey game, except instead of body parts they have random phrases among them "teacup" and "fairy."

The company has managed to convince me that these fairies are a "superb value", as they are only $9.99 each. However, you have to buy them in sets of 3, so there goes that "value" if you're in the mood for an item highlighted in Crap or Treasure.

P. S. Whatever way you look at this, you have to admit that "sassy Christmas fairies" is really fun to say out loud. Try it.

P. P. S. I just went to www.bradfordexchange.com and typed in "jasmine becket- griffith". I dare you to. It's pretty....interesting. I am fascinated with the pink unicorn thingy. What one intrigues you?

Heigh- Ho, Heigh- Ho, It's Off to Sleep We Go

Did you know that the Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is about to celebrate it's 75th anniversary? No? Well it is, and apparently someone thinks it's so important we need to commemorate it. The Ashton- Drake Galleries (new to the ads!) are "are proudly presenting" Heigh- Ho, Heigh- Ho, It's Off to Sleep We Go. It's a miniature doll collection! They're so cute!

The dolls are supposed to be the seven dwarfs and Snow White as babies. Each doll is "so full of expressive detail" that "you can see each character's personality adorably brought to life." Grumpy's "personality" is my favorite. With it's little fists and squinty face, it looks like baby Grumpy has some constipation.

These dolls would be a fun toy for kids, but "These doll are not toys; they are fine collectibles." Oh. Sorry. And at "only" $39.99 a doll, I can't say these are something you should just hand over to your little ones (By the way, the collection of 8 would cost $319.92).

COT Conversation: Christmas Is Celebrated In June Now, Apparently

I am annoyed.

I have not been blogging for a long time about the topic of coupon pamphlet wares, but since I've started, it seems that everything is Christmas- themed. There are so many things wrong with that.

For starters, it's June. There's a whole half a year left before it's time to even start thinking about anything holiday related.

Also, the stuff being sold is junk. Right now I am staring at an ad I am going to post about later in the week, that I not so fondly refer to as the "Kissing Rats." These furry vermin on ornaments are dressed in Christmas outfits, puckering up amid Hershey's Kisses. It's weird.

There are other things wrong here, that I'm not going to go into. Tell me what you think. Should we spread the holiday cheer throughout the year? Or would there be nothing to look forward to? What do you think is wrong with this trend?

Mickey's New York Yankees Fan for All Seasons Flags

It's Sunday, the best time of the week for Crap or Treasure- ers! This week had some awesome stuff, such as Mickey's New York Yankees Fan For All Seasons Flags, from The Hamilton collection.

"Celebrate your passion for the New York Yankees with the first-ever holiday flags honoring this legendary ballclub and featuring Mickey Mouse!" These seem to be a very personalized thing. I would think only a small percentage of people like both the Yankees and Mickey Mouse, and are willing to have a flag in their front yard telling the world. This seems to be the kind of thing that clueless well meaning relatives would give to their younger male relations, only to have it thrown out later.

Don't you dare toss it, at $29.99 each. And don't lie and say you like it if one is bestowed apon you, because you're just setting yourself up to get more. There are different patterns of flags, for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, and more. Beware, before it's too late.
